The track steel is all to hand and five sets of 7.25" points have been built by Paul Newton. We have borrowed a track making jig from the Whakatane club which will help speed up the construction of making up the track lengths. Paul has also made up about 4,000 steel sleepers which will be mounted on rubber blocks as the track will be bolted onto a molded concrete track bed. This will make the rides much smoother.

Public submissions to our plan have been taken into account by the Waipa District Council and the final go ahead will, with luck, go ahead after a Council meeting in early August. Get your working gear ready. A lease agreement as been established. The Tauranga club has offered us a donation from the takings from their annual open weekend in November.

Hamilton club have given us $2000 in debenture support.

We have also had several donations and debenture support from club members.

At the Cambridge July village fair it is intended to have a steam locomotive in steam on the back of a trailer to spread the word that we are in town and that steam is once again arriving.

Romoana Collins has been busy drumming up support from local business houses, with spectacular results. More on this next month.
